Maintaining the ECONO-TANK Waste Holding Tank System:
Some regular maintenance is required to keep your ECONO-TANK running at peak performance. Many of the maintenance tasks will depend on the amount of use that the system gets. As you become familiar with your particular situation, you will be able to schedule maintenance as necessary.
Periodic flushing of the Holding Tank
If the system is being used on a daily basis by several people, e.g. charter houseboats or live-aboard families, it is recommended that the Holding Tank is flushed out at least twice a month (this may be done correspondingly less frequently for lower usage levels).
Flush the tank as follows (Note: Do not perform this process in a boat harbour or any other nil-discharge area):
1. Run the discharge pump by pressing the On switch to empty the Holding Tank. Listen to the operation of the discharge pump and turn the pump off when the tank is empty.
2. Flush a toilet several times to put clean salt water into the Holding Tank.
3. If some means of refilling and/or cleansing the Holding Tank has been provided, empty the Holding Tank by pressing the On switch, refill, empty, refill and empty again to make the system ready for use.
