Operation of the AQUA-SAN II MSTS

The AQUA-SAN II system has three main operator-controlled modes of operation: Auto, Manual, and Off. In each case, this refers to the operation of the discharge pump only e.g. in off mode, the discharge pump will not operate automatically i.e. the pump is turned off.

The operation of the cell, the generation of chlorine solution and the dosing and treatment of the toilet waste is controlled by the system. The original dosing and chlorine generation settings can be altered to suit a particular vessel’s requirements if desired; please refer to your Owners Manual or to the Installation Manual for further instructions on changing these settings.

Auto Mode

Auto is the default setting for use in areas where the discharge of treated sewage is allowed. In this mode, the system monitors toilet flushes, generates chlorine and doses the Treatment Tank accordingly. Treated waste subsequently overflows through a snorkel from the Treatment Tank into the Holding Tank. When the Holding Tank reaches the 80% full level, the system automatically discharges the treated waste from the Holding Tank.
To enter this mode, press the auto button on the Control Panel.

Manual Mode

Pressing the manual button will result in the Discharge Pump running until the Holding Tank is empty. Use this setting, for instance, before entering a nil-discharge area, to ensure that the maximum capacity is available in the Holding Tank. Be careful to not use this setting when in a boat harbour, canal, marina or any other discharge-prohibited areas.
To go to the Manual setting from the Auto setting, press off first, and then manual. To go to the Auto setting from the manual setting, press off and then auto.

Manual Mode – Cleansing Cycle

Pressing and holding the manual button for 8 seconds will start the Cleansing Cycle. During this cycle, the Holding Tank is emptied and then rinsed with clean seawater via the Cleansing Rotor until it is full, emptied, refilled and finally emptied again.   The cleansing rotor emits a fine jet of water that effectively cleans any remaining waste off the internal walls of the tank. Use this setting to clean out the Holding tank, particularly when the vessel will not be used for a period of time.
To stop the Discharge Pump and/or the Cleansing Cycle, press off.

Off Mode

Pressing the off button will stop the AQUA-SAN from discharging treated waste if the discharge pump is currently running and/or it will prevent the discharge pump from discharging any further waste. This setting should be used in nil-discharge areas.
In this mode, the system still monitors toilet flushes and doses the Treatment Tank accordingly, but once the Holding Tank reaches 80% of capacity, instead of discharging the waste, an alarm sounds and the Hi-level light turns on (steady red light). The alarm may be muted by pressing the alarm mute button.
If the Holding Tank is not discharged (e.g. the boat is in a nil-discharge area), the system will allow a limited number of additional toilet flushes until 95% of capacity is reached, at which point toilet flushing will be disabled and the Hi-level light will flash. If the alarm was previously muted, it will sound again until muted or the Tank is discharged
