Guidelines for Safe Operation:

The purpose of these safety rules is to attract your attention to various installation, operation and maintenance procedures that are required to ensure that you get the best result out of your MSTS, and that you do not void any of the Manufacturer's warranties. These instructions and explanations require your careful attention and understanding.

CAUTION: Failure to obey the relevant operating and maintenance instructions may reduce the performance of your MSTS and degrade the treatment of the toilet waste that passes through it. Proper use and maintenance will ensure you do not breach any Government regulations for which the MSTS was designed.

Do not attempt to operate any MSTS until you have read and completely understood the instructions contained in the Owner's Manual. Ensure you keep your manual in a safe place and review it frequently for correct operation instructions, and when instructing others who may operate the MSTS.

All systems use hypochlorite solution for disinfecting. This solution contains chlorine, so only chlorine-resistant hoses, connectors and skin-fittings should be used. In particular, brass or bronze fittings should NOT be used

IMPORTANT: Servicing of your MSTS requires care and knowledge of the system and should be performed by a Shipwright or an agent of your supplier if you are not sure of what is required. ONLYAQUA-SAN MSTS. genuine replacement parts sourced from your supplier should be used in your

KNOW YOUR MSTS: Read the Owner's Manual carefully. Learn its applications and limitations as well as any specific maintenance requirements. Also ensure that you are familiar with the operating instructions for the vessel's toilet system.

AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS: Don't install your system in hot, damp or wet locations, or expose it to rain or seawater. Install it in an area that is well lit, which can be ventilated and can be accessed for regular maintenance.

KEEP CHILDREN AND UNTRAINED OPERATORS AWAY: Do not let children or untrained operators operate or maintain the system.

DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING EXCEPT HUMAN WASTE AND TOILET PAPER DOWN THE TOILETS: It is important that you inform your guests that the toilet system is to be used for human waste and nothing else. Sanitary napkins, tampons etc. must NOT be flushed through the toilet macerator or into the MSTS.

PROTECT THE QUALITY OF THE AIR ONBOARD: Ensure the system is properly vented to the outside air at all times. As a general indication, all systems usually give off a slight chemical smell through the vents, caused by the various chlorine compounds. Any unpleasant odours usually indicate that the system is not working correctly and may require either maintenance or repairs.

FLUSH THE MSTS WHEN IT WILL NOT BE USED FOR SEVERAL DAYS: If the system will not be used for several days, flush out the system while the vessel is in an area where discharge is allowed. Empty and clean all tanks e.g. both the Holding Tank and the Treatment Tank for the AQUA-SAN II, before entering a restricted discharge zone, as described in the relevant Owner's Manual.

KEEP YOUR MSTS DRY, CLEAN AND FREE FROM OIL AND GREASE: Always use a clean cloth when cleaning. Never use brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, or any strong solvents to clean your MSTS. A light spray of lubricating oil on pump/battery terminals and hose clips when the unit is serviced is recommended. Ensure that the top of the Dosing Pump (if fitted) remains clean and dry as any oil or grease on this unit will prevent the dosing of chlorine into the Treatment/Holding Tank.

STAY ALERT AND EXERCISE CONTROL OVER WASTE DISCHARGE: Be aware of the system's capacity and remain alert to the alarm and warning lights that are designed to keep you informed of the performance of your MSTS. Use common sense when discharging treated effluent to ensure that it is in line with any Government regulations for the area you are in. Be mindful of other persons using our beautiful waterways.

CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS: Like any other marine components, before using your MSTS, the system should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check all operating and warning lights, also regularly check for any leaks and ensure that the system mounts are secure at all times. Any part that is damaged or not working should be promptly and properly repaired and/or replaced by a Marine Engineer or Shipwright before the system is used again. Replacement parts should only be obtained from authorised suppliers of N.W.S. MSTS parts.

Due to ongoing development, product features and specifications can and will change without notice. Please check the current features and specifications with your NWS installation agent.
